3 whole months have gone by and no sign of a read…until now.
It being the holiday season, nothing much was read as there was way too much good telly on. I did finally finish the Slippery Slope and also got through the Grim Grotto. There’s more on that in a minute.
First however, ‘Poems About Teachers’ by Andrew Collett. It’s a small book, about 30 pages in length. Any child at school will appreciate them and so will the teachers. Each is one page long so not too long and will keep the kids interested with poems about the dinner lady, teachers and the staff room. This comes highly recommended. Watch out for an interview with Andrew Collett in the coming months.
Next we have the Slippery Slope by Lemony Snicket. Of Course, you’ll know that if you’ve been reading my reads. Sunny has been captured by Count Olaf and Klaus and Violet are chasing after him to rescue her. They meet some very surprising characters, a blast from their past if you will. Also, so much of the story falls into place. This is the book where everything unfolds. Again, this is better than all the preceding titles and the story leaves you wanting more. It’s interesting to note that each book is longer than the previous with this one being 300 pages or so in length. An excellent book.
Finally we have the Grim Grotto by Lemony Snicket. I can’t really say too much about this book except that it left off exactly where the Slippery Slope finished. They meet an old friend and make 2 new ones. One thing I didn’t enjoy is there seemed to be too much rambling on about the water cycle. While Lemony Snicket has used this technique to try and ‘put you off’ of reading any further, it seemed he did this a little too much in this by using it too often. It is a good book however and what gets this the read of the month for me is the ending – you’ll see...
So, that’s it. Go get the Grim Grotto. Of course, if you’ve not read the other 10 books you’ll need to get those too.
That’s me for hopefully another month so get reading and send in your reviews.
